Caterpillar Reports First-Quarter 2016 Results. First-quarter 2016 profit per share of $0.46 was down from a profit of $2.03 per share in the first quarter of 2015.  Excluding restructuring costs, profit per share was $0.67, compared with $2.07 per share in the first quarter of 2015.
